About Me

Hi, I’m AL — and I’ve been exactly where you are.

20 years ago, I brought home a Northern Inuit puppy named Gia. She was loud, strong-willed, and completely overwhelming.

I did what every new owner does — I signed up for a puppy class. We were asked to leave. Twice.

No guidance. No alternative. Just shown the door.

I know exactly how it feels to love your dog and be made to feel like the problem is yours to carry alone.

That experience is the reason I do what I do.

As Gia got older, walks became something I dreaded. Scanning ahead. Crossing early. Turning back. Heart hammering after every incident. I was exhausted, embarrassed, and quietly wondering if it would always feel like this. It didn’t. But only once I got the right help — and understood what was actually driving her behaviour.

My Training Philosophy

What You Can Expect: I trained under Steve Mann and was mentored by NDTA’s Sandra Lawton. My work is rooted in behaviour science — understanding what your dog is feeling and why, not just what they’re doing.

No punishment. No dominance theory. No shortcuts.

Just honest, ethical, evidence-based training that respects both you and your dog — delivered at K9 Freedom Fields, a private barn and fully secure outdoor field here in the North East.

Commitment to Welfare & Results
